5 Questions to Ask Before Becoming a Creative Memories Advisor
Deciding to become a Creative Memories Advisor is an exciting possibility—but it isn't a decision you should make just because someone asks you.
I always encourage people to ask questions, think it through, and make sure it fits their goals and lifestyle.
After all, this is about more than joining a company. It's about deciding how you want to enjoy your hobby and whether you'd like to share that passion with others.
If you've been wondering whether becoming an Advisor is right for you, here are five questions I think everyone should ask before making that decision.
1. Why Do I Want to Become an Advisor?
There isn't one "right" answer.
Some people join because they love the products and would enjoy Advisor “discounts”.
Others want to earn a little extra income, teach classes, or simply become more involved in the scrapbooking community.
Take a few minutes to think about what excites you most.
Your reason doesn't have to be anyone else's reason—and that's perfectly okay.
2. How Much Time Do I Want to Invest?
One of the things I appreciate most about being a Creative Memories Advisor is the flexibility.
Some Advisors treat it like a hobby they enjoy a few hours each month.
Others host regular events or build a larger business.
Ask yourself:
Do I want this to stay a hobby?
Would I enjoy sharing ideas occasionally?
Am I interested in growing something over time?
There isn't a required pace. The best pace is the one that fits your life.
3. Do I Enjoy Encouraging Other People?
Many people worry that becoming an Advisor means becoming a salesperson.
I look at it differently.
The Advisors I know are teachers, encouragers, and memory keepers.
If you enjoy helping a friend choose paper, celebrating someone's finished album, or sharing a layout you're proud of, you're already doing many of the things Advisors do every day.
4. What Kind of Support Will I Receive?
This is a question I think people sometimes forget to ask—but it's one of the most important.
Not every team is the same.
When you're choosing an upline, you're also choosing the kind of support, encouragement, and mentoring you'll receive.
When someone joins my TEAM, I want them to know they're not figuring everything out alone.
I provide:
Bi-monthly virtual team meetings
Access to my classes and workshops
Free cutting guides
Technique ideas and creative inspiration
A supportive community that celebrates progress
To me, that's just as valuable as the products themselves.
5. Can I Picture Myself Still Enjoying This a Year From Now?
This might be the most important question of all.
Imagine yourself one year from today.
Are you still excited about preserving memories?
Do you enjoy learning new techniques?
Would you like being part of a creative community?
Can you picture yourself helping a few friends get started?
If the answer is yes, becoming an Advisor may be a wonderful fit.
There Isn't Just One Way to Be an Advisor
One of the biggest misconceptions is that every Advisor wants the same thing.
That's simply not true.
Some people enjoy product “discounts” and creating albums for their families.
Some share products with a handful of friends.
Some teach classes.
Some build thriving businesses.
Every one of those paths is valid.
I believe success isn't measured by how many customers you have—it's measured by whether being an Advisor brings more joy, creativity, and purpose to your life.
Still Curious?
If these questions have you thinking, I'd love to help you explore your options.
